A BCS playoff for more than "plus one" is not needed!!!!!

An extended playoff will ultmately damage college football, way more so than the playoffs did in basketball and lower divisions of football.
The popularity of Div 1A football is dependent on the BCS conferences, indeed even the lower divisions gain from the hoopla created by the Div 1A BCS conference teams. The BCS Conference teams spend huge amunts of money to finance their teams. They need to reap rewards to continue to do this. Under a tournament to determine the NC this effort would be damaged.
Studies have shown that a tournament would be controlled by the NCAA and ultimately by TV networks. The TV networks will decide the money amount and the NCAA will decide the places where the money goes. As in the NCAA basketball tournament the money will subdivided to the lowest level and received by 400+ schools. This will in effect drain the lifeblood....cash... from the programs which need it to maintain the popularity of football. This is undeniable as it is the way the NCAA and TV work.
Another bad effect will be the decline in attendance at college football games. This will not happen immediately but over several years as the hoopla and popularity of the playoff system buildsup. After a few years of a tournament as soon as a team is eliminated from the playoffs enthusiam will wane. Conference championships and old rivalries will not mean as much.
The above is exactly what has happened in the NCAA Basketball tournament and even the NBA and NFL to a certain extent.
I would not object and the BCS committee would not object to a "plus one" game which in effect is a four team playoff. ABC objects to it, however, and pays the PAC10, BIG10 and the Rose Bowl to object to it. The reason being is that they control the Rose Bowl TV and any "plus one" game would reduce the stature of the Rose Bowl. They are already unhappy that the BCS system has reduced the stature of the Rose Bowl as much as it has.
When the BCS made initial feelers about the "plus one" game the PAC10 and Rose Bowl said immediately they would pick up their marbles and go home if a "plus one" game system was approved.
What this means is that gathering your "1000 votes" up and sending them to the BCS is like spitting into the wind. It will just blow back in your face. What you need to do is convince the PAC10, not the BCS. I find it pathetically funny USC people are behind this effort. Everyone knows that as USC goes, so goes the PAC10. The PAC10 is the roadblock to any kind of playoff.
Very fortunately the University Presidents and the BCS conferences administrations are very familiar with the bad effects on BCS Conference Football from an extended tournament and do not intend to ever allow one.
Try for a "plus one" game. Only the PAC10 will block it. The BIGTEN will make noises but will go along with the PAC10.
