A True National Champion
College Div I football is the only sport where there is not a playoff system in place. The BCS crowns a champion based on what? Two teams amongst a handful who have a legitimate right to call themselves national champion. Every year since the BCS has been in place, with the exception of USC-Texas, there has been a controversy.
If you are going to vote for a champion in what amounts to a beauty contest, why not vote after the bowl games instead of crowning the winner of one particular game. Last year was a joke like every year. Utah goes undefeated and gets snubbed. USC, Penn St. and Texas with identical records get shut out, especially since Texas beat OU on a neutral field.
The way it is now, the BCS consists of an SEC champion versus the field, because we all know how much hype the SEC gets. It is time to scrap this crappy, stupid system and go back the way true champions are decided, ON THE FIELD.
