Athletes Commitment To Academics

The last time I looked we built these things called schools to teach from books and scholars. A person stood up and gave a lecture. Somewhere we decided that exercise was a good thing and one thing lead to another and we created sports. Ok, I'm not against exercise. Heck, I even like college football.
I hate what sports have become. They symbolize all we hate to see with our children. Most high school kids who are fortunate enough to be born with a gift of one skill or another are recruited as early as ninth grade. Even earlier if god for bid you are in AAU!
Let these kids grow up. Make them focus on the academics parents. Forget this free ride stuff you hear about and hire trainers for your five year olds! Thats hogwash. You will spend more money from age 5-18 on earning a free sports ride in college than the cost of college at your local State University. Guaranteed. I have seen it with families. You also miss a lot of children growing up in the house because the Hotel you are in for the three day soccer tournament is two states away. But heck, Sally might get noticed at age seven and then trainer will allow us in and charge us only 15,000 per year to get her ready for college. Let alone middle school!
I say, if any athelete gets a scholarship they are committed legally to their school for a minimum of four years. If they quit, the pro sport cannot hire them until their class would have graduated. Im done.
Oh ya, Go Huskers!
