Childhood Obesity On The Rise

Childhood Obesity

Not in my house you say? Childhood obesity is on a rise like no other epidemic. It will bring down our healthcare system if we stare at it and do nothing. Can it be stopped? Thats up to all of us reading this article because the government is not to blame here folks.

This is about every house, apartment and local school cafeteria. This is about individual choosing to make a difference and save their children. We have made it so easy for childhood obesity and other related illnesses to grow out of control. Type II Diabetes is alarming and attacking younger and younger age groups. Why? Because many nations, not just America, have chosen a path of least resistance to their daily lives.

Rather than buy and cook at home we have chosen to work longer hours and bring take out home or have pizza delivered. Heck, today in many cities you can get a great chinese meal delivered! What happened to just pizza? Our children are sponges of our actions and thus they will grow up over weight and sluggish carrying all sorts of obesity related illness like inflammation and heart disease let alone Diabetes for generations to come. It's the constant imprinting of our lifestyles that are the cause.

Not the government. Go see your local elementary school lunch one day. It's right there folks. Stop this now. Stop this forever. Is this reversable? Yes. The sad part is it's up to each of us and there is no one person who is going to rise up and conquer this problem. Each of us can change. Each of us can create a new environment focused on health and wellness. Here is a quick list:

  • For Every Hour of Video Games a child must exercise 1 hour
  • Throw out all sugar based sweets, NOW
  • Take your sodas and get rid of them.
  • Focus on old fasioned water
  • Integrate fruits into the daily menu
  • Shoot for 4-5 meals a day with 3 being breakfast, lunch and dinner with healthy snacks in between
  • Integrate a work out schedule 3-4 times a week and vary the routine so boredom is attacked right away

These are basic and simple but if followed you can be on the road to slowing down and eliminating childhood obesity and all the associated inflammatory illness combinations that are derived from being over weight. Start now. Don't delay! A nation of children need this now.
