ACAI RASH
by: ORLANDO, fl

I STARTED TAKING ACAI 1,000 MG TWO WEEKS AGO AND NOTICE A RASH ON MY FACE, I STOPPED USING IT AND MY FACE CLEARED UP. TWO WEEKS LATER I PURCHASED THE ACAI JUICE BRAND (BOM DIA) AND MY FACE, BACK AND CHEST NOW HAS A RASH. THIS WAS THE ONLY CHANGE IN MY DIET.

Allergic reaction
by: Anonymous

I started drinking an acia juice daily last Tuesday , I developed a rash on my right arm that has slowly spread not it is on my thighs and kneck , The rash is small hard bumps that hurt if I scratch them. They are not really itchy but do devalop a little scab before they disappear . I know what I am experiancing is an allergic reaction to something and the juice is the only thing that I have changed in my regular routine .I suspected it might be the juice so here I am : )) After reading all these posts I am pretty positive I am allergic to the berry .I will check with my doctor to be sure of course . Thank you everyone for sharing your stories, they have been very helpful.

Agony
by: Anonymous

Hi, I had just started taking a weight loss supplement that had acaii berry in it as the major ingredient about 1 1/2 weeks ago... didn't notice any reaction to it when I took one pill but the suggested dosage is 2 a day... I was okay when I took one pill didn't notice mch but the past 3 days I increased it to 2 and what a mess... My skin looks like I have scales and it is itchy and sore...I thought it might be this product so just stopped taking it today... I am on steroid cream and benedril so hopefully this will clear it up soon... Never again....

Bad Rash from taking Acai Optimum pills
by: Patricia

I was taking 2 pills a day of each of the Acai Optimum and theAdvanced Cleanse/Colon pills and got a rash and major itchiness in my armpits then it spread to small red skin blisters and then it spread to an awful rash on my chest and abdomen and even started to blister. It took me awhile to connect the dots and realize this was a reaction to the Acai Optimum pills; I just stopped taking them 2 days ago; the rash is still there and very, very itchy; drives me crazy; hopefully it will go away within the next week or so; not a fun way to spend summer time with red, blotchy, itchy skin. I did not experience any weight loss or benefits from taking these pills; just got more and more allergic and rashy! They also charged me a $104 membership fee for each type of pill - so $208 total that I was not expecting at all. I have now cancelled my subscription and will never take Acai Berry in any form again.

killer berry
by: Anonymous

I have been taking acai berry and I went into acute respiratory distress, hives from my head to my toes, the worst itching burning I have ever had. Doctor says to stay away from any fruit now ending in berry. She is positive it was the acai. I almost died. No one should take supplements until they know exactly what the side effects could be if they are prone to allergies.
My name is Sandy. I live in Sahuarita, AZ. I pray no ones every dies.

Thank you for your help!
by: Patricia

I started taking Acai capsules approx. 8 months ago and have had alot of strange rashes and itching problems also. I was so very glad to read all the other compliants, and see I was not alone. Mine started on my tummy area and was a nightmare. I think I have purchased every anti-itch cream on the market. It has now moved to my upper chest above the left breast. This is an absolute awful rash that itches to bad that I have to sleep with a cool towel on my chest. I have spent alot on doctor bills and noone could figure out what was causing this problem. I have thrown out all remaining capsules as of today. And again thank goodness for everyone elses testimony to help me see the reality of what is happening.

Instant itchy red bumps
by: Anonymous

I tried acai juice one night and the very next morning I awoke to itchy red bumps on my abdomen, lower back, arm pits and lower legs. I also had red "hot" areas on my neck and chest. I didn't attribute this to the juice and just thought a mosquito had made it's way into my bedroom. Next night after tennis I drank even more acai juice. Almost immediately I had trouble breathing. The bumps magnified in size and it literally felt like my armpits and groin area was on fire. I took massive amounts of benadryl for two days. It is now day 4 since that incident and I am just now feeling somewhat back to normal although still have some bumps and minor itching. BE CAREFUL before you try this juice!!!

acai berry reaction and cross-sensitivity
by: jeannie

The second time I tried acai berry juice I had an obvious allergic reaction. Two days later I ate a handful of strawberries and had an even worse reaction, and I've never had any other food allergies. It was very bad, face/throat/tongue swollen, difficulty breathing, blood pressure bottoming out, hives and ended up taking benadryl and prednisone. I did some research and found pretty convincing documentation that there is often a cross-sensitivity between reactions to acai berries and strawberries. It turns out that the strawberry issue also makes me more likely to have future reactions to any other foods in the rosaceae family: apricots, peaches, almonds, raspberries, apples, pears, rose hips, etc. I don't know if the reaction to the acai berry provoked the reaction to strawberries, but I would definitely never give this to a child and I wish I had not tried it myself.

Me Too
by: Lisa

I just started taking Acai Berry Capsules 500 mg each 2 a day, and started to develope small red bumps on my stomach, back and legs and arms. They itch terribly. I am convinced its the pills and will stop talking them to make sure but its the only new thing in my diet. Too bad though because they seem to be working as I started the detox progress and losing weight.

by: Anonymous

Hi. I have a few allergies but not much. I am having issues with weight. I lost my job and gained about 5 #. I wanted to loose the undesired weight and also get me off the couch. I saw an add for the Acai Pure. I started taking the supplement and about 2 days later stared itching on my stomach. I stopped the product right away. It has been 1 1/2 weeks and I still have hives covering about 75% of my body. I have been to the doctor and have been put on atarax for the itching. This sucks!!! i just needed help loosing the weight!

Alleric Reaction
by: Anonymous

I took acai fresh for the first time and 2 hours after I took just one pill I started experiencing anaphalactic shock like symptoms. My throat felt as if it was closing and it became difficult to breathe. My heart rate and blood pressure shot way up. I was very shakey and hot. Everytime I stood up felt as if I was going to pass out. It lasted all day. When I finally got to a Dr. he advised me to take Xanax and sent me on my way. Now two weeks later I'm still experiencing the same things off and on. It almost feels as if I'm having panic attacks. I've been reading blogs about people breaking out into hives but really none with symptoms like these. Dr's seem to not be taking me very seriously and don't have any answers for me. Is there anyway of knowing how long it could take to get out of my system? I just want to know if something is going on with my body due to something in the acai fresh or if its maybe just panic attacks I've developed due to the anaphalactive shock epsisode.

Using Anonymous as Your Name

We have not deleted any online stories on this topic. There are 2-3 threads on people with challenging experiences with the Acai Berry. Could be elsewhere where you need to search for you past stories.

This site has deleted all the bad publicity!!
by: Anonymous

Webmaster Note:

Dear Joyce,

You have posts in multiple threads. Planet Berry (as you noted) is not involved in Acai Capsule resales. Your comments, "This site will delete this and any one else that writes bad things..sorry." is inaccurate as noted in our response in your other thread.

Our policy is to allow all opinions whether good or bad on experiences. However, as noted in your other thread, we do not allow Anonymous Writers to post negative comments and state Company Names. Some may get posted but we do work to edit the company names out if an Anonymous Writer enters one. In addition, failure to provide a Working Email Account will get your article deleted. So I hope that wasn't your experience in the past.

I wrote in a couple of weeks ago with my hives from taking the RED capsules of ACAI Berrys..my attorney said sue, my doctor said it was probably the RED in the capsules. Anyhow it took 2 weeks for the hives to begin going away. They burned with showers and broke out on any fatty area of my body. I have heard the same story from others who have taken this. This site will delete this and any one else that writes bad things..sorry. It wasn't Planet Berry that I ordered my Acai Berry Capsules it was the site that said just pay for the shipping and handling..and then they tried charging me 80 bucks for the second jar.

allergic reacation to monavie!
by: Anonymous

I, too, suffered from an allergic reaction to an acai juice blend after taking it for 4 days. Had an itchy rash on my face (cheeks and forehead) and a few small bumps on my stomach. I stopped the juice and the rash is much better - not as much itching but the bumps are still there. I'm not sure why the reaction - I've never been allergic to any of the listed ingredients. Monavie is not for me!

If you read the entire page, Kathy is not the only one who has experienced negative reactions to the acai juice blend. Your "what a shame" to others who have broken out in hives doesn't quite seem like a helpful or appropriate response. That is wonderful that your family has glowing skin, others of us are trying to help eachother out with the allergic reactions we have had.

Acai Is Wonderful For Our Family
by: Anonymous

Kathy

Sorry to hear you are not able to have the same results as my entire family. What a shame. We all have glowing skin and much better overall energy without that quick burst and fall you get from the soda pop drinks.

We did experience (first 3-4 weeks) a lot of stomach gas but given what I have read about all of this that is normal for cleansing.

Don't take anymore and give it several weeks to a month to go away. Maybe try anything you can to cleanse the body.

MonaVie Reaction
by: Anonymous

I was so glad I had found this site as well! I was one of the ones who wrote back in September with an outbreak. When I told my acai juice blend sponsor about my experience, she said she had heard of rare cases of allergic reactions to the juice drink.

I hadn't ever had an allergic reaction either, not sure what singles us out.
Anyway, it took my rashes about a full month to completely go away. I was lucky enough to not have itching, but definitely had a severe rash on stomach and it spread out a little onto my limbs. I was starting to wonder if it would ever go away, but I am rash free now, so hang in there!

Allergies to Food Products
by: Anonymous

Mona Vie or other foods needs a certified licensed doctors opinion. Blogs are great. But your doctor is the only one that should be guiding you on this.

Allergies are pretty fast acting with respect to food. Hard to tell if your husbands reaction was soon as in minutes, hours or days after taking the MonaVie Juice.

Always best to consult a professional and follow up with a second opinion if you are not satisfied.

We have been drinking the regular and Active juice for 2+ years now and have begun trying Puilse and No problems with reactions at all. Not to say that our results will be yours or anyone elses.

Best of luck.

Could be??
by: Anonymous

My husband and I have been drinking MonaVie since December 2007. I drink MonaVie Active and my husband felt that he was allergic to MonaVie Active and he is now drinking MonaVie regular. He thought that his body hurt and he was bloated from the MonaVie Active. He is really happy drinking MonaVie regular his pain is better and he is not bloating like he was.

As for me I have suffered from allergies for years. I have been through two years of allergy shots. I spent one year with an acupuncturist for allergies and had excellent results. Then we moved and I again had built up more allergies. Then MonaVie Active came into my life. After three weeks of drinking MonaVie Active I no longer needed to take my allergy pills. Now if I get a sinus headache I just take and extra shot of MonaVie and within the hour the headache is gone. I have also been able to discontinue my blood pressure medication, cholestrol medication, I no longer need to wear wrist splints for my carpal tunnel-pain is gone, I have also discontinued my harmone medication since drinking MonaVie 2 ounces twice a day since December. I feel better than ever, my quality of life has improved 100% because of this juice. I have other family and friends that have had simular results.

You will never be sorry that you have taken charge of your own health. I am not telling you to never go to a doctor again. I go on a regular basis to get blood work and make sure what I am doing for my health is working. My numbers are improving every time I have blood work done.

Allergic to Mona Vie
by: Anonymous

I have had similar symptoms from the Mona Vie. From the research I've done online, it may not be any of the berries we are allergic to. There's some websites indicating that the preservatives and/or fatty acids in the Mona Vie could likely cause an allergic reaction.

Oh my gosh!
by:

Kathy-
I just read your entry on your allergic reaction. I've only been drinking Mona Vie for two weeks solidly, and have also broken out into a hive like rash all over my stomach and chest area. Thankfully it doesn't itch, but it doesn't look good! I just discontinued drinking it in the last couple of days when I thought of it being the possible culprit. I've never been allergic to anything as far as I know. I'm so glad I read your story!

Allergic reactions to acai
by: Clarke

The only way to make sure and you should absolutely do this is talk to you family doctor. Write down everything you take and eat on a daily basis. Make notes as to when (time) you have discomforts and compare that to what you are doing and eating/drinking. It may be a food allergy but only a medical professional should determine this not you and not a blogger.

You may find it to be something else in fact depending on what your doctor determines

COULD it be?
by: PJGuy

Could it be? Yes, perhaps... People DO develop food allergies all the time - mostly against the absolute GARBAGE we're forced to purchase in stores today - thanks to the FDA, etc's love for money over concern for health.
MV is NOT a CURE, but is intended to giveBACK to your body those self-healing elements lost because of improper health practices.
Allergies - as any good and honest diagnostician will tell you - are a result of chemical imbalances as well as inflamation and oxidization of otherwise healthy cells and organs.
I would recommend cutting back on your intake (from 4oz to 2oz, or even 1oz) before completely giving up on it... you will not be getting the benefit of the recommended daily intake, but you may be able to help your body 'ease' into repairing itself in this area before returning to the full serving size.

Let me know how (or if) that helps (post a reply to this).
