Hello,Fitness PlanningI think I speak for the majority here when it comes to the annual fitness promise we all make to ourselves and loved ones. We all have great intentions and in most cases start out with the full intention of sticking to the latest craze in weight loss and fitness. This has always been my mistake. The plan is based on the latest craze when in fact all I have to do is do what is right by our law of give and take. The body is an incredible engine. It is one that adapts to changes both positive and negative. Most of us have seen the reaction to the negative all too often. We gain weight. In fact, we gain weight in areas like the stomach region that are dangerous to our overall health and wellness. So, we jump right into the infommercial world of Diets. We start losing the initial weight like it was easy. This is the trap. This is the hype we all buy into. What we should be doing is creating a deficit to our intake. Thus, the body will not have the reaction we all see today with weight/fat gain and thus an unhealthy lifestyle and MORE medications than we shall ever need if we just create balance. When my personal change took place in 2007 it was based on years of excess and quite frankly denial. I was up over 240 lbs and traveling the globe like it was my personal palace. Then the annual physical and the life changing threat to my way of life quite frankly. I was completely off the charts and heading towards Type II Diabetes and High Blood pressure pills. Scared straight? You bet. Did I do something about it? Absolutely. So what did I do? I was fortunate to have two primary individual who are both knowledgeable and supportive. My personal physician Dr. Perez and a loving wife who for over 25 years has been trained in this field but I was just not listening too like I should have. First, Dr. Perez placed me on High Blood Pressure medication. Then he warned me that I had 90 days or I was going into a pre diabetes program of pills that he would prefer I not get on. The only way out was to listen and begin to change my personal lifestyle and diet along with fitness. At the age of 48 back then I was doing very little of either suggestion so this was not going to be easy. I also think my situation is not out of the norm in the United States and elsewhere. The first thing I did was START walking every day. First it was 30 minutes at about 2.5mph in my step. Then it got to 45 minutes until now I can go 90 minutes and be as fresh and full of energy as I was before I started. In fact, I typically have more energy after a walk as before I would start. This is the key. I have now created a body changing event that has altered the way my body burns calories and thus fat. Sure, my eating habits have changed. We downsized our Plate sizes from the All American plus 15 inch plates to plates that are 10 inch and thus cannot be over stuffed with food for the sake of having all that space available and thus ready to be consumed even if we were satisfied with less. The Acai Berry juice we began drinking back in 2007 is still a daily staple of our diet. The juice has created pain free joint reality for me and thus allows my walking to be pain free as well. No excuses. Just a simple plan and a few hardened changes like the dinner ware size of our plates and here I am at 194 lbs two years later! All my blood work is in check now and my energy levels are still at a point where I can do what ever I desire and not feel limited like I was before.
