Total Fitness Moves On

With Summer we have the Great Outdoors and NO excuses for Not moving our feet and getting some extra time on the body. The World has finally come to grips with the rising case loads facing our Medical Community as a Planet. We are Fat. We are getting even deeper into debt when it comes to this topic. We must start and stop with our children.

Does everyone remember the old days when cars did not have seat belts? Well, I do so I guess that dates me. My point is that the country and the globe saw this as a problem. Cars without seat belts was a moving disaster for the driver and their passengers. So we invented Seat Belts.

Everything looked great and with good old fashioned assembly process 101 we built every car with a seat belt for ever single passenger. But what really happened with this new idea? Nothing at first. People got in their cars and sat on the belts. No one clicked the seat belts. Then we decided to get smart. But it took 20+ years to figure out the problem. Adults were not going to change unless you fine them (we did that too in some states). We developed training programs for the elementary schools.

Then the children brought the message home and a new generation was born focused on the seat belt. I still remember my young children reminding me of the seat belt every time I forgot to click it. This is now a norma way of starting our cars in our world. We get in and click it. Simple. Or so it sounds today.

With obesity we have two problems. One is the current state of affairs with the obese and those also affected with diseases like Diabetes. Obesity is a long term killer and it has lots of friends. We need to get this solved and move quickly. If I were king for a day I would focus on the success we had with the Seat Belts and plug it all back in and restart those engines. Get to the Kids and save a nation.

Alternative Energy Now & In The Future

Alternative Energy means a lot of things to many of us. To some it even means Nuclear Energy. There is an argument for and against this belief. But clean safe energy is all around us and does not require the level of investment that Nuclear Energy demands and leaves behind once it's used up. With Solar Energy and Wind Energy we have an abundance of resources and potential. Our planet has many zones for great Wind Collection and of course the Sun shines just about every day everywhere. So, why are we moving so slow?

Well, this is the key to the solution. The government has multiple challenges with renewable energy. One is the financing of it. Credit markets are not where they need to be to really get this party going. But they are better today than 2 years ago. The real problem is the Utilities in each State. These vast energy producing plants control both the harvesting of our current energy and the transmission of the electricity to our homes and businesses.

The Utilities regulate what we can put on the transmission lines and keep a close eye on the level of supply and demand. We waste so much energy its not even worth going there. Why we waste the energy is probably as sad a story as why we continue to pump millions of dollars down the lines that never get used. The equation for producing energy is simple. We have trends and usage reports that show us everything we need to know. We plan for 1000's of Mega Watts of production beyond our needs to make sure that enough Energy Capacity is downstream and available at all times. Thats wasteful.

There is an answer. Its Energy Storage. The world is racing towards this solution as we type. The time tables are anyone's guess but the day that we can safely store Clean Harvested Alternative Energy and store it forever then we will once and for all be off the dependency of Oil forever. The question is when? When will the breakthrough come? There are so many inventors out there working on this I can hardly wager a guess as to when that day will come but it will. One day in the next 10 years we will read about a new Storage Device that will allow all the Solar Production and Wind Production to be stored. Thus we would have Solar Energy at Night!!!!

Keep pushing your local governments to step it up and Never accept the current status quo when it comes to our Future and Clean Energy.
