Boom Time For Green Collar JobsThe demand for alternative energy has created a huge demand for green collar jobs in the United States and abroad. Every cycle has a boom and a bust. The planet has spoken. We must get off fossil fuels and let the dinasauers rest in peace. The hunt for early success is driving more and more traditional investments towards an ever expanding launch of new ventures to find the ultimate solution to our power hungry population. The net of all this has been a surge in green collar jobs across the country (primarily in the Silicon Valley and the Northeastern US). This at a time when the economy is leveling off this could be a surge that propels the next wave of growth. It surely will slow down the slide. With housing prices falling across the globe we will see this as an opportunity for those entering the market to buy in before the next big rise in real estate as well. Our universities are focusing their research and development in this area as well. By having multiple investments developing the next wave of technology we should see early success in 2008 and 2009. Suffice it to say, the job market is looking good for this group of innovators. There are cities starting to get very creative on how to get over the sticker shock of all this. Just recently the San Jose Mercury news posted this article by staff writer Vindu Goel. With more and more innovative ideas coming from local government and the proper reporting like exciting news from the city of Berkeley we have the seeds for momentum and a model perhaps for others to follow. We cannot sit by and hope that all this initial excitment takes us to the next level. We as citizens need to promote and support these ideas with our local government. Demand more. Settle for nothing short of a world on complete renewable non-polluting energy. Accept no comprimises. If we all unite and promote these wonderful beginnings then perhaps our children and their children will have that world we always dreamed of.
