Hillary Clinton's political record by Dick Morris

by Steve
(San Jose, CA)

Hillary Clinton our next president?

Hillary Clinton our next president?

A Democrat who makes sense. By Dick Morris. Dick Morris is a former adviser to President Clinton.

FrontPageMagazine.com 8/9/2007 Go to www.hillaryclinton.com and check out Bill Clinton's syrupy five minute ad for Hillary. He introduces the commercial by saying that he wants to share some things we may not know about Hillary's background. His version of her biography is about as reliable as if it appeared in Pravda!

Dick Morris:
So, I wanted to make a few corrections:

Bill says:
Hillary never wanted to run for public office, but she did want to work at public service.

The true facts are:
When Clinton was considering not running for another term as Governor of Arkansas in 1990, Hillary said she would run if he didn't. She and Bill even had me take two surveys to assess her chances of winning. The conclusion was that she couldn't win because people would just see her as a seat warmer for when Bill came back licking his wounds after losing for president. So she didn't run. Bill did and won. But there is no question she had her eye on public office, as opposed to service, long ago.

Bill says:
In law school Hillary worked on legal services for the poor.

The true facts are:
Hillary's main extra-curricular activity in law school was helping the Black Panthers, on trial in Connecticut for torturing and killing a federal agent. She went to court every day as part of a law student monitoring committee trying to spot civil rights violations and develop grounds for appeal.

Bill says:
Hillary spent a year after graduation working on a children's rights project for poor kids.

The true facts are:
Hillary interned with Bob Truehaft, the head of the California Communist Party. She met Bob when he represented the Panthers and traveled all the way to San Francisco to take an internship with him.

Bill says:
Hillary could have written her own job ticket, but she turned down all the lucrative job offers.

The true facts are:
She flunked the DC bar exam and only passed the Arkansas bar. She had no job offers in Arkansas and only got hired by the University of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville because Bill was already teaching there. She only joined the prestigious Rose Law Firm
after Bill became Attorney General and made partner only after he was elected Governor.

Bill says:
President Carter appointed Hillary to the Legal Services Board of Directors and she became its Chairman.

The true facts are:
The appointment was in exchange for Bill's support for Carter in his 1980 primary against Ted Kennedy. Hillary became chairman in a coup in which she won a majority away from Carter's choice to be chairman.

Bill says:
She served on the board of the Arkansas Children's Hospital.

The true facts are:
Yes she did. But her main board activity, not mentioned by Bill, was to sit on the Wal-Mart board of directors, for a substantial fee. She was silent about their labor and health care practices.

Bill says:
Hillary didn't succeed at getting health care for all Americans in 1994 but she kept working at it and helped to create the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that provides five million children with health insurance.

The true facts are:
Hillary had nothing to do with creating CHIP. It was included in the budget deal between Bill Clinton and Republican Majority Leader Senator Trent Lott. I helped to negotiate the deal. The money came half from the budget deal and half from the Attorney Generals' tobacco settlement. Hillary had nothing to do
with either source of funds.

Bill says:
Hillary was the face of America all over the world.

The true facts are:
Her visits were part of a program to get her out of town so that Bill would not appear weak by feeding stories that Hillary was running the White House. Her visits abroad were entirely touristic and symbolic, and there was no substantive diplomacy on any of them.

Bill says:
Hillary was an excellent Senator who kept fighting for children's and women's issues.

The true facts are:
Other than totally meaningless legislation like changing the names on courthouses and post offices, she has passed only four substantive pieces of legislation.
One set up a national park in Puerto Rico. A second provided respite care for family members helping their relatives through Alzheimer's or other conditions. And two were routine bills to aid 9-11 victims and responders which were sponsored by the entire NY delegation.

Here is what bothers me more than anything else about Hillary Clinton. She has done
everything possible to weaken the President and our country when it comes to the war on terror:

1. She wants to close GITMO
& move the combatants to the USA where they would have access to
our legal system.

2. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of suspected Al Qaeda phone calls to/from the USA.
3. She wants to grant constitutional rights to enemy combatants captured on the battlefield.
4. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of money transfers between suspected Al Qaeda cells & supporters in the USA.
5. She wants to eliminate the type of interrogation tactics used by the military & CIA where coercion might be used when questioning known terrorists even though such tactics might save American lives.

I can't think of a single bill Hillary has introduced or a single comment she has made that would tend to strengthen our country in the War on Terror. But, I can think of a lot of comments she has made that weakens our country and makes it
a more dangerous situation for all of us........

She goes hand in hand
with the ACLU on far too many issues where common sense is abandoned.

She is a disaster for all Americans!

Hypocrits: Clinton's and Biden
by: Raquel in DC

I watched the Democratic party try to convince us that the once hated relationships between teh Clinton's and J Biden are all mended. Are you kidding me? Obama is no fool. This is a very smart man.

He must have been forced to make nice with Biden on Sixty Minutes recently. That was a farce. Biden cannot be trusted and even told us so in his CBS 60 Minutes interview. But heck, that lie was 20 years ago and should not be considered when thinking of him today. He has learned from his mistakes right?

The plane ride home for the Clintons must have been a nightmare as they had to eat all those words they threw at Obama and his ability or inability or what ever it is now to lead our country coming from all that experience in 8 months as a Junior Senator. Whew. I will sleep at night knowing he is, uh, also sleeping while Rome burns...now that is comforting.

Rest in peace Hillary Clinton
by: George Danstine

Ding dong the witch is dead the witch is dead. The great lark from Hawaii has defeated the evil empire for good. Long live Obama and all his twisted promises with no Plan.

Oh, did I say no plan? Hahah ahahaha. Obama is a joke but he did defeat Hillary Clinton and wild Bill Clinton so I bow to his glory. He did a great job acting in George Bush's place in Europe and the Middle east this past week. And we thought the election was in November?

The election results are in and here they are:

Obama: 100% of the votes tabulated on July 25, 2008
McCain: 0%

The nerve of this crack pot to think he is the President to be talking like that on the soils of WW1 and WW2. He has shamed the office once again.

On positive note, he now gets it with Iran. He seems to be more like McCain every day and if he has the ability to follow through with his 180 degree turnaround on policy then he gets my vote. Not!

I vote for no one at the present list of candidates. I may just write my neighbor in!

Dumb and Dumber
by: JT in McLean

Hillary and Obama. What a pair. This party had it right in their palm. All they had to do was kill off the worlds biggest control freak and let her be VP (that would never happen of course). Obama would have beaten McCain in his sleep. Im a REP but now we have another 4 years of the GOP.

Thank you Von Clinton and Knucklehead. Keep beating yourselves up in the media. We have plenty of popcorn at rock bottom prices to go around. Oh, ya, we haven't had to do any fund raisers but we can loan some dough to Von Clinton if she beggggz for it.

Seriously folks, is this country asleep? The DEM's as a party are a waste of time. They had the keys to the palace and let it slip through their fingers. Now the wicked witch from the East or wherever she claims to be from is going to stoke the fires until the bury her crazy smile.

Sad that Obama couldn't live up to the early hype. She has gone ballistic on everything but his K-5 years.

She is vicious. She is as dangerous as Nixon was. Did Bill stay awake this week?

What lie will she tell us next? That she had Bin Laden but Bush made her let him go? Hahahahaha she is the epitomy of a power crazed indvidual on steroids. Pass the Latte Hillaby Clinton....what a knucklhead.

Hillary Should Step Down
by: James in Montana

For the good of the party this person should place her Power driven ego on the shelf and go be a mom. Leave the Senate and disappear. Your family needs you not your country.

For her to LIE once again about being shot at in Bosnia (recent articles and apologies can be found throughout the internet) and then blame it on the campaign trail and being tired? What happened to her targeted speech about voting for a President that can start on Day 1 and be ready for service?

This person is not the quality of person we need in the White House. Now, I don't know if Obama is either but having the two of them attack each other is only making the McCain camp stronger. Recent MSNBC polls.

If this party (DEMS) wants 4 more years of the same then keep this up Hillary Clinton. If we want change we need Obama to be selected by Hillary dropping out with some dignity left in her evil empire eyes.

For the love of country please drop out Hillary!

Hillary Army Unites
by: Thomas, Boston

The Hillary gang is off and running now. With Obama's "true" image now exposed with his anti American now ex-minister it is only a matter of time before the wicked witch of NY ooops I mean Arkansas (keep forgetting that she is really a Razorback not an elite New Yorker like she portrays to the media) unleashes her evil spirits to poison what remains of Obama.

This will be Hillary's finest hour as she slowly but methoodically destroys the man Obama and then his entire campaign dragging him and his family into the spotlight. America should prepare itself for the worst of the worst real soon.

Imagine what happens if this power crazy human being gets back into the White House. Is it a bad dream or a precursor?

Where is Bobby Kennedy when we need him....

Hillary Leave NY
by: Cameron in NY

I wish she would just go back to Arkansas where she is from. Why my great state allowed her and the swindling former Inmate of America to come to our state is beyond me. And then to vote this evil human being into office? I am embarrased and offer no excuses.

Im not a Republican or Democrat but I think we are in for 4 bad years if this woman steals this election. Have the votes are from people who still can't get over Wild Bill Clinton. He is going city by city offering all kinds of lies and promises for campaing donations and votes.

He should have just gone to sleep like all the others or build houses with cousin Jimmy. That would have been at least noble.

We need help and we need it now. Ralph Nader is not the answer but he is the only new name to rise. McCain is too old and not wanted by his own party. Obama is a mystery to everyone.

If we do one thing lets do this. DO NOT VOTE FOR HILLARY CLINTON wife of William.

Clinton's In the White House: Nothing But the Truth
by: Trudy

The Clintons, to adapt a line from Dr. Johnson, were not only corrupt, they were the cause of corruption in others. Yet seldom in America have so many come to excuse so much mendacity and malfeasance as during the Clinton years. Here are a few facts that have been buried or forgotten.

- Number of these convictions during Clinton's presidency: 33
- Number of indictments/misdemeanor charges: 61
- Number of congressional witnesses who have pleaded the Fifth Amendment, fled the country to avoid testifying, or (in the case of foreign witnesses) refused to be interviewed: 122

Clinton Wins Texas and Oho
by: Hillary Faith

Take that Obama! We are not done. We are not conceding to your victory lap. Ah, you move to soon. You tempted faith with your mini streak among states that matter little in the delegate pool.

Now the great lady from the State of NY will rise and take us all to the promised land and once again the great state of ARK will rule the greatest country on the planet earth.

Hillary now has momentum clearly back on her side. No more easing up on poor little Obama and his small cast of wanna be politicians. Thinks twice Super Delegates for he who crosses Hillary will pay for ever.

Hillary Needs To Relax
by: Thad Nielsen, NH

Hillary needs to relax. This is a very smart human being who is acting like a child. If only she had the wisdom and people skills of her husband who was a Great Politician. Hillary has a lot to offer. The article by Dick Morris is one man's opinion. We live in a free country so he is entitled.

The part that hurts with him is that he had such a close view of the two people in office and as a family. When he speaks we listen as he has first hand knowledge we assume.

Is he mad about the past? Of course. We all are to some degree just like we are looking forward to this election and "change".

Hillary will not change her personality. If she could I think she would win in a landslide. She has more knowledge and experience than Obama but fails to capitalize on this and turns to negative campaign strategies every single time.

Hillary, if you are listening, you have very little time to change your current view from the American Media and beyond. It may be too late already.

your bias is showing
by: Anonymous

It is hard to take any of this seriously, as the writer so obviously has such an ax to grind against the Clintons, that far from believing the veracity of these writings, I only wonder how badly he must have screwed up in the Clinton administration, since they - who by his own words - are so terribly inept and corrupt - threw him out of their administration so early on

Hillary Loses to Obama
by: David, NY

If Hillary loses to Obama does this mean we have to take her back as a lame duck Senator? I still recall when (sadly) we were all shaken by 911 and while our President stood in front of the world's stage and our leadership and described our situation there was Hillary with her expressions (mouth open and in defiance) against the President. She had her back turned on my occasions as the sober audience weeped over the in-human events of 911.

Is this who we want in our leadership at any level? I am of the vote that we pull her card completely. I bet she moves out of NY if that happens! She is only here to be a Senator in a state that doesn't get it. The Clinton name is old news and sad news at that. We don't want them anywhere near our policy makers.

Im a Democrat voting for Obama.

Kennedy Vote
by: Andrew in Maryland

Well it only took Hillary a week to realize that her petty ego had to change. The debates Jan 31st showed us she is nervous. Not an evil stare at Barrack Obama all night (from what I witnessed). Maybe she is trying to set herself up for the VP role? Think about the win win for the country on that. We have diversity in the White House like no other time!

Barrack Obama deserves our attention and perhaps our vote. I am not a Democrat but I will be giving his request for votes a serious look. I think he has the right attitude and a willingness to partner with the GOP and our Allies.

This would be historic. This could lead to a very interesting Eight Year run for the world let alone the US of A.

Obama Reaches Out To Republicans
by: Nancy in San Francisco

I look at all the candidates (Im a REP) and I have to say that right now I would trade my party vote to Obama's side. Why? He isn't as tenured internationally as some. He is clearly junior as the Clinton's would have you view him. But he is committed to a bi-partisan platform in his resolve to be President. The President can't do the job on his own. Proven over time. He/she needs a cabinet that is seasoned and thus I believe the power of the office is measured in management capabilities and overall people skills. Hillary clearly is into this for power and ego. She wears it on her sleeve.

Obama has my attention and between now and the general election I intend to give him and his platform my full attention.

I like what Obama is saying. But when I think of the leader of the most powerful nation in the world I want someone with a bit more experience than what Im learning about Obama. He should make a fine VP to Hillary if elected. Although, wouldnt it be nice if somehow he was the defacto VP regardless of the winning party?

Obama Wins Nevada Delegates
by: Nelson, in Chicago

I am baffled that the Obama team is not playing this louder than the Hillary Clinton team is touting she won. Well if you win the populous and lose the Delegates you equal, as I recall, Mr. Gore. So if that's the case let Hillary sing the victory song all day long as long as she ends up where Al did during the selection of the next Democratic Presidential candidate. As far as Im concerned we need her out of this race and fast. Obama may be low in tenure but the man knows what he is doing and is going to surround himself with key advisors that will work for a living unlike the Clinton gang who only want to win to have the power.

Obama Wins Nevada
by: Karen in Wheeling WV

Why is everyone saying that Hillary Clinton won Nevada? I just read that Obama had 13 delegates to Hillary Clinton's 12. Now I know this isn't a landslide victory for Obama but come on Democrats let's at least call out the true winner of Nevada!

Isn't the point to elect the Democractic nominee? Doesn't this require some number of Delegates to be declared our Parties choice? Why is the Clinton gang declaring victory for finishing second in Nevada.

Please someone help me.

Objectivity and Hillary Clinton
by: Gary Neven, in Nevada

Not sure who you are referring to their but if you are questioning the entire list of posts or the topic you have that right I suppose. At least we are not being censored. I went to the Nevada Caucaus and worked on convincing Obama supporters to join the Clinton Gang. It was interesting as I never particpated in anything like that. Got to meet a former President in Bill Clinton.

I walked away feeling like I won but may have lost in the big picture. Hillary is not Presidential but Bill is. I left the meetings feeling like I was voting for Bill and thus casting towards Hillary. She is cold and not a very nice person from what I witnessed. She smiles to your face and then as you walk away she has a nasty comment to make about something you said or how you came across physically.

Not going to get my vote when it counts. I can not vote for a junior leaguer in Obama either although I think he might make a good VP.
