Kids Growing Up Fast

by Tony
(Carmel, CA)

Teens do grow up

Teens do grow up

We blink and our bundle of joy is driving a car. Turn our heads for just a moment and they are dating. Then the dreaded day comes and they are off to College! Whew that goes by so fast. Everyone warns you. They tell you that you need to cherish those early years as best you can for the nest will be empty before you know it.

We tried. We spent so much time trying to find ways to be there for every event no matter where our careers took us. But at the end of the day and eighteen years later our kids did grow up. They turned out just fine. We have 2 in college now and believe our children will choose the right path that they seek.

Letting go is never easy and truth be known you really don't let go. You just extend your teens the support they need to be themselves and learn from the very same experiences you had growing up. Times have changed. Technology rules the day with our children. But we can curb the thirst for these gadgets. Don't give in. Make them earn their toys and tools for success. Give them a car and the next request is a house. Tired of all the texting? Make them buy the phone and pay the bill. Watch that toy go away fast!

Enjoy your teens. They are special

Time Flies For Grandparents
by: Anne

As a grandparent I feel like time is flying by. I thought at first it would all slow down and I would have all this time to play with my grandchildren. Whew was I wrong. Im as busy as ever and although I can't always tell what day it is I know when the weekend comes!
