I guess Im first in the block on this one! As a mother of 3 I have concerns with these sites in general. Im all for free speech but as a parent how the heck do I control these things?
I believe that MySpace is not doing enough socially to trully monitor and keep safe our children from those that seek their attention for the wrong reasons. Yes, I believe the internet should have social networks but with social responsibility too. I prefer, DirectMatches.Com which can be a great place for both business and social networking. It is not heavily polluted like MySpace!

Parents should be on alert. There are several ways to protect your children. If you have a router there are ways to block the social networks from being accessed. A bit challenging to do but not impossible. This is free too. For a fee you can hire Geek Squad to do it over the phone. Then there are software solutions that cost money but do provide an easy menu driven way to block these services.

Hi Lisa,
I think this topic is loaded with questions and concerns. There are a few good online services and usually your ISP can assist with tools as well. Sometimes these are free and sometimes there is a monthly fee. Most are offering some level of protection. I use my routers software and edit the web site address into the hardware and its blocking the sites I feel are not safe.
