Playoff with bowl games

1.The top 16 ranked teams from the final BCS Ranking will comprise the playoff field
a.The conference champions from each of the 6 BCS Conferences will receive automatic bids
i.Atlantic Coastal Conference
ii.Big East
iii.Big 10
iv.Big 12
v.Pacific 10
vi.South Eastern Conference
b.If a BCS Conference champion is not ranked in the top 16 in the final BCS Rankings, then they will replace the current 16th ranked team who will then be removed from the playoff field
i.e.g. in the 2008 final BCS Rankings the ACC Conference Champion, Virginia Tech, was ranked 19th; they would replace the 16th ranked team, Brigham Young, and Brigham Young would be removed from the playoff field

2.The playoff brackets will be seeded the same as the NCAA Men?s Basketball playoff bracket
a.1 v. 16, 8 v.9, 4 v.13, 5 v. 12, , 2 v. 15, 7 v. 10, 3 v. 14, 6 v. 11
b.Regions will be determined as such
i.The first seeded team will be in the region of the current year?s national championship game
ii.The second seeded team will be in the region of the next year?s national championship game
iii.The fourth seeded team will be in the region of the previous year?s national championship game
iv.The third seeded team will be in the remaining region

3.During the 1st round, the games will played at the home field of the higher seeded team

4.The quarter-final games will be played at the site of each of the 4 BCS Bowls

5.The semi-final games will be played at the site of the 2 BCS Bowls that are not involved in the current year?s or the previous year?s BCS National Championship Game
a.The highest seeded team remaining will play in whichever bowl site is the shortest distance of travel

6.The championship game will be played at the site of the BCS National Championship Bowl Game

7.All regular season games must be completed by the weekend after Thanksgiving

8.The playoffs will begin two weeks after the completion of the regular season

9.The remaining 30 bowl games will be comprised of the remaining bowl eligible teams using the current rules for bowl eligibility

10.All non-playoff bowl games may be played before the date of the semi-final games
