Solar vs Wind

by Karl
(Austin, TX)

Im a big fan of wind generated power but it does appear to be very inefficent and a land grabber. Solar is very expensive today and the ROI doesn't seem very attractive. To do nothing is not an option so what is everyones thoughts on Solar vs Wind?

T Boone Pickens Plan
by: David in Topeka

Has anyone heard from T Boone Pickens and where he is at with his Wind Across America campaign. I know he got hurt in the downturn with his finances but he has been real quiet lately to the point of being off the charts.

Green Partner Links
by: Anonymous

Thanks for supplying this site. I have a couple of clients I will get to your planetberries.com/partnerlinks.html site and have them request a Link added if that's ok with you. We need more sites to publish these unique regional companies who can execute on Renewable Energy Solutions. The big boys are not getting it down financially to the homes or Commercial Project level.

With the Stimulus we should be seeing 200% growth RIGHT NOW.

Solar Wholesale & design
by: Synergized Solar

Synergized Solar is situated in the Midwest to provide solar Wholesale, Training, & system Design to the heartland of the U.S. We currently are working on a project involving wind and have found the 2 of them to be equally as effective. Each has it's place in the market. Wind Large off site production. Solar- at site production helping eliminate power loss over transmission lines.

Solar Panel Efficiency
by: Douglas

Solar panels have been around for decades now. Does someone out there know where we can find the most efficient solar panels available?

Im specifically looking for a panel that will completely take me off the grid but not break the bank and have me wondering why I did this to myself. If only the government would support a finance program for Solar like they throw money at the banks!

Alternative Energy Developments
by: Bert in Portland

We are doing a great job as nations now focusing on something that has been shelved for way too long. Solar and Wind as an alternative energy source of production is plentiful. We should be moving incredibly fast in this direction as each second that is wasted is energy not delivered cleanly.

Think about that for a moment. If we keep studying this and do nothing then even the energy needed to post this article is done so with fossil fuel and pollution ocuring and being depleted.

Are we going to sit back and wait for someone else to do this? Germany has leap frogged the USA in my opinion. They have 30 percent of their production with Alternative Energy as a source. They figured out how to get the Residential investment with a unique banking concept that swept through the towns one by one. Now they have solar throughout the country.

The USA is less than 1 percent Solar today. Last I heard we are facing droughts and extreme hot days in the spring, summer and early fall.

Sure sound like a lot of sun shine to me! Get on your elected local officials. They can do something. The higher you go the more Staff Email responses you will collect. To change this we need to change the thinking of the lowest level of the political engine.

It's up to us people. Make a stand now.

Housing Starts
by: Chris DeJordan, Los Angeles

For the life of me I cannot see why anyone is getting a permit to build a NEW home if SOLAR or WIND alternative energy is not part of the specifications. Each COUNTY and CITY office should mandate this and have the builders locked down tight on permits!

Wind won't make it
by: Cindy Rhett, NY

Wind has too many restrictions and creates one heck of an eye soar for the surrounding area. Plus the fact that you have to have an area that is constantly in the breeze zone. I vote for Solar.
