Globally we are seeing trends showing an alarming rise in teenage obesity. We as nations can no longer sit back and hope that our children figure this out for themselves. There are numerous programs taking shape from country to country. The real culprit lies in our mass marketing of easy to get fast food.
As nations we are constantly on the move. Pushing the envelope so to speak in an effort to improve from one generation to the next. In our wake and staring at us in our future is a population that will not accelerate from these benefits (learning curves) of the past but will slow down to a crawl due to inabilities to perform caused by obesity.
Marketing is not going away folks so let's not assume our children can distinguish healthy decisions from the unhealthy. In the freeworld there are protective rights that keep commerce flowing as we know it. There are checks and balances but teenage obesity is here to stay and will increase if we do not take a harsh stand and institute policies that educate rather than punish our youth to better understand their bodies needs.
Most children will not grasp the calorie in versus burn formula. Thus if you take in more calories than you burn you will gain weight. Measuring one's intake is cumbursome if not educated on a few basics. The real tie-in is exerciset. Through an effective well managed program we can reduce the gain through a burning process as a direct result of a fitness program. This must start in each township and major city. Then we will get this ship in the right direction and hopefully the marketing engines of today's food processors will figure out a healthy product to replace our fast food nation desires.
Throughout our site we have many such examples and thoughts on "then next steps". Feel free to explore our message and provide valuable feedback to our writers so they can enhance our message going forward. Have a great day and take 3 steps for every two you need!
During seasonal change from fall to winter and winter to spring and finally spring to summer we see our children go through many cycles of peer pressure and decision making.
The highest level of stress is at the tail end of spring and early days of summer. Why, most teens are in Finals for one and the pressure to study versus "play" is often a day to day decision. Given the chance to hang out with their friends and socialize they most often give up their study hour for a movie or perhaps just going to the mall.
In addition, they are trying to look like a 10. Diets come and go. With the internet we see an influx of the old "weight watchers" to the new more trendy looking ads promoting the perfect body through the "south beach diet". If you try and minimize the exposure to these ads it's impossible. The radio, the internet and now the phones.
The time to help our teens is not the end of spring. Teenage Obesity trends are all heading in the wrong direction. We need to educate our teens when they are pre teen. They should never be handed a Soda at a young age. Keep them off the processed foods as best you can. Yes you will be the mean parent but you know what they all grow up and when your's are fit and healthy they will come back to you in their 20's and remind you of how much they love you for what you did.
Tough talk if they are not taught the proper eating habits young but a talk that still should be considered. Look throughout our site for other tips and ideas. It's not easy but it's not impossible either.
By acting now each and every one of us can help reduce Teenage Obesity slowly but surely.
