Waste Management

by Douglas
(Ohio)

Every where I go I see unique ways of individual home owners and their waste/disposal methods. You would think that after all these years we would have leveraged an industry to provide a way to recycle at the home and perhaps generate alternative non-polluting energy sources from our waste. But not today and not in the forseeable future as there is money in trash and thats at the root of all evil solving this problem!

Water Waste Pollution
by: Cindy in Santa Ana CA

Doug, we stare at the Pacific Ocean and can only fathom what filth lurks in our waters off our beloved shoreline. We let our children swim in that pool of filth and yet we know better. Our family has stopped going to the beach for fear it will lead to diseases that will not be easy to get rid of.

If only we as a nation could see the benefits of a new way of disposal for our waste towards an energy policy that might actually save our Oceans we will continue to see the impact over and over. The food chain is also impacted and anyone eating their seafood knows this but looks the other way!

We love sea food but are nervous about what is truly being reported. Where is it coming from in reality?

Time will tell but time is also our enemy as waste management has not evolved in our opinion to where it could have a very positive impact to our energy needs and our pollution worries.

Waste Management Is Failing
by: Carrie

Douglas, the waste management process is failing in our town of Toledo Ohio. Waste is not recycled properly and in fact is causing secondary health concerns to many. Our pollution that is being dumped and supposedly processed will one day come back to haunt us in our food system and our water reserves.

Where we should be managing our waste through energy renewal or alternative energy perhaps we are merely building mountains of dump sites across our fair land. The Federal Government needs to really look at this and mandate a better way fundamentally or generations to come will have problems with their food and lead to illness like cancer the likes we have never seen.

If everyone speaks up to their local governments then perhaps we can start a new direction with overall waste management. I for one will do what I can in Toledo!

Home based waste management
by: Tim in Encino

Now thats the ticket. But I think you nailed it with the tie back to the all mighty dollar. There is big money in trash. They raise our rates and laugh all the way to the dump site and on the way the sell off parts of the load to, you guessed it, the recycle companies. They in turn clean and seperate and reuse for sale the very trash that started in my house.

At the very least I should be a shareholder!
